Neo Puck

Neo Puck is a Multiplayer Arcade Game which was created during a GameJam hosted by our university. GameJam meant 48h to develop a game in a team from scratch. In this time we discussed the idea, programmed the controls and every behaviour, designed all graphics, included effects and different game modes and also composed the music. After one hell of a weekend version 1.0 was ready to be played. It was a local playable game which seemed to be very amusing.

Neo Puck is based on the pricinples of an air hockey game. Two players try to kick the puck into one of the two opponents goals. But there is not only a twist in the arena design but also in the players control. It possible to move / rotate the player and to alter its size. Thereby small but fast and strong players face big and slow players. Additional modes alternating in each round make the game even more challenging and fun to play.

How-to?

Single Player:
Collect points by hitting the green rectangles with the ball. One round ends if the ball leaves the playground on the left side.

Multiplayer:
Each round starts with the players on their side and a ball popping up in the center. Now everybody tries to kick the ball in one of the two opponents goals. If one was able to net a goal, the score on the left or right side increases.
In the menu, one is able to select the maximum score points to win and toggle modes.
Modes are different types of balls or playgrounds, e.g. big or effected by gravity, which change each round.

Controls:

X-Box controller (recommended):
Left stick - movement
X / A - stretch / shrink player
left / right trigger - rotate player counterclockwise / clockwise
Start - pause
B (in menu) - go back / resume

Keyboard:
First player - W / A / S / D , R / F , T / G
Second player - arrow keys , U / J , I / K
